I got around this by setting up my board to have the most recent posts at the top instead of bottom. That way I only need to scroll down to find the last one I read, and read up, ending up at the top with the bread crumbs.

Personally, I do not use the bread crumbs much - it is much more efficient for me to use the "Show unread posts since last visit" link at the top right (in red). My only problem is that it is sometimes hard to tell where to start so I end up rereading ones I already saw.
