I'm making a topic out of this ? instead of contacting Stotheara privately because I imagine many of us are interested: what determines the number of praises we receive, Stotheara? I realize I can click and give one praise if I agree with someone's post and respect their opinions, but before anyone has a chance to do that, we have a certain number of praises anyway; based on what? And given by you?

A praise is simply when someone likes a post, or wants to share a blessing, they can click on the "praises" link to show appreciation. Anyone can do it, including myself. Everyone starts at zero. It is a little way to show appreciation to another poster. It is a positive thing.

Yes, I realize that. I have given praises myself.
What befuddles me is that I ALWAYS receive the same amt. of praises and it is higher than when I first started here. I have noticed you, Stotheara, always have the same amt. of praises. It's hard to believe that every time I post, eighteen ppl give me one praise each, so I guess what I'm asking is does Administration automatically "assign" a certain number of praises to start with every time you post and, if so, is that based on how long you've been posting here at this site, and/or what you think of a person's posts?

It's hard to believe that every time I post, eighteen ppl give me one praise each I doesn't work like that - it is cumulative. If you have 19 praises today you will have 19 tomorrow - until someone clicks the praise button and gives you another, then you keep that many until it happens again.

Claire, everyone started at zero. Over time, as you post, people can give you "praise" one at a time. So, like Ann said, you've accumulated 20 praises over your membership time here.
